词汇 | science |
词根词缀 | 词源: c.1300, "knowledge (of something) acquired by study," also "a particular branch of knowledge," from O.Fr. science, from L. scientia "knowledge," from sciens (gen. scientis), prp. of scire "to know," probably originally "to separate one thing from another, to distinguish," related to scindere "to cut, divide," from PIE base *skei- (cf. Gk. skhizein "to split, rend, cleave," Goth. skaidan, O.E. sceadan "to divide, separate;" see shed (v.)). Modern sense of "non-arts studies" is attested from 1678. The distinction is commonly understood as between theoretical truth (Gk. episteme) and methods for effecting practical results (tekhne), but science sometimes is used for practical applications and art for applications of skill. Main modern (restricted) sense of "body of regular or methodical observations or propositions ... concerning any subject or speculation" is attested from 1725; in 17c.-18c. this concept commonly was called philosophy. To blind (someone) with science "confuse by the use of big words or complex explanations" is attested from 1937, originally noted as a phrase from Australia and New Zealand. 词根记忆: n. 科学;学科The efficient ancient scientist had conscience in science.那个能干的古代科学家在科学上有良知. n. 科学;学问(sci+ence)[sci=know,表示"知道"] 词根词缀: science science n 科学,学问(sci+ence) sci=know, 表示”知道” science n 科学,学问(sci+ence) scientific a 科学的(sci+ent+ific) conscience n 良心,道德心(con全部+sci+ence=全部知道=有良知=良心) conscious a 有意识的,自觉的(con+sci+ous=知道的=有意识的) conscientious a 有责任心的(con全部+sci+entious多…的=知道关心多=有责任心的) omniscient a 无所不知的(omni 所有+sci+ent) prescient a 有先见之明的(pre预先+sci+ent=预先知道) prescience n 先见之明(pre+sci+ence) subconscious a 潜意识的(sub下面+conscious有意识的=在意识之下=潜意识的) nescient a 无知的(ne不+scient知道) pseudoscience n 伪科学(pseudo假+science科学) |
